After receiving an individual artists' fellowship award in sculpture in 2009 from the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), I was asked by the organization to write an article highlighting worldly objects that held particular importance to my sculptural practice. Each of these "objects of influence" help define the contemporary world to me in a language I have come to understand and speak.
