White Line consisted of a stark line of fluorescent fixtures and bulbs strung along a long steel cable. Spanning vast distances between two connecting points, it bowed gently in the middle. Versions have been created between two hills on a cattle ranch in Wyoming, through a Japanese garden in Tokyo, and over a river in Northern England. As much as it was an artwork to be looked at, this piece also operated as an effects machine. The illuminated line created dramatic highlights and shadows that transformed the appearance of each location into supernatural wonderland.
