Seeing the Sound Around Us

LED screen, aluminum, electronic components, steel reinforcement, concrete / 15’ x 30’ / 2017

A sculpture that functions as an interface for instantaneously mirroring the sound around itself. With microphones picking up audio most accutely within the first ten feet, the piece becomes a venue for acoustical interactivity. While the image shown depicts equalizer bar graphics, the appearance of the visual response can be programmed to depict any graphics, and any combination of them.
