Rising Action was an 18-month, community-oriented project in Chattanooga, TN that drew attention to climate-related issues taking place in one of their most affected neighborhoods. Commissioned by ArtsBuild, two towering and illuminated inflatable sculptures embodied the energy of water and fire. Three-stories tall, their size aimed to reflect the scale of the issues brought on by a changing climate. The sculptures were accompanied by a sound score created by Summer Dregs that included voices of community members. At both moving and stationary events, the inflatables acted as a focal point that attracted viewers so that we could then educate them about pressing environmental concerns.
