Trestling

Cor-ten steel, galvanized steel, concrete

Trestling is a gateway and elevated walkway. Its function is multi-leveled: sculpture, passageway, destination, and vantage point. Interior staircases lead pedestrians and cyclists to an overhead walkway where they can take a rest and view the trail from a new perspective. Equally, it serves as a historical point of reference. Its structure is based on the trestle railroad bridges once prevalent throughout the US, and its angled form is designed to mimic the slopes of an implied valley. Similar to the High Line in New York City, our piece aims to transform a practical element from our industrial past into an engaging and meaningful addition to our contemporary world.
